How to Connect Stripe to Your Eduqat School

Quick answer: Go to Settings then Payment Setting in your Eduqat Dashboard, enter your email on the Stripe card, then complete Stripe's onboarding. Setup must start from the dashboard, and your country must appear in Stripe's list.

Quick answer: Go to Settings > Payment Setting in your Eduqat Dashboard, enter your email on the Stripe card, and follow the link Stripe sends you through. You then create your Stripe account, secure it, enter your business details, and add a bank account. Stripe setup has to start from your Eduqat Dashboard, not from stripe.com.

Start from the Eduqat Dashboard, not from Stripe

This is the part people get wrong most often.

Creating an account directly on stripe.com does not connect anything to your school. The setup link that Eduqat gives you creates a Stripe account that is already linked to your Eduqat school, which is why the Stripe pages you see carry the PT Edukasi Global Teknologi name. A Stripe account made any other way cannot be attached to your school afterwards.

If you already have a Stripe account, you can still start from the dashboard and use the same email when Stripe asks for it.

Which countries can use Stripe

Eduqat supports every country that Stripe supports. There is no separate Eduqat list, so the question is only ever whether Stripe covers your country.

You find out during setup. At the Let's start with some basics step, Stripe shows a Registered business address dropdown. Your country is supported if it appears there. Stripe states it plainly on that screen: if your country is not listed, you can sign up for updates about availability.

If your country is not on that list, you cannot connect Stripe, which means you cannot receive payments for your courses. Your school itself still works: you can build it, publish courses, and enroll learners manually. What you cannot do is sell.

Indonesia is the exception. Schools selling in Rupiah use Xendit instead of Stripe, so Stripe's country list does not apply to them. See How to Create a Xendit Account on Eduqat.

Before you begin

What you need

Why

Access to your Eduqat Dashboard

The setup link only exists there

A country on Stripe's list

Checked at the Registered business address step

The business owner, or someone with significant management responsibility

Stripe requires this person to complete the form

Your business registration and tax details

Stripe asks for the legal name and tax numbers for your country

A bank account in your business name

This is where Stripe sends your payouts

A mobile number or an authenticator app

Needed to secure the Stripe account

Step 1: Start the connection from your dashboard

In your Eduqat Dashboard, go to Settings, then Payment Setting. You will see a Stripe card marked Not Connected.

Enter your email address in the Email field and submit it. A green confirmation appears: Successfully connect to the Stripe. You will be directed to complete the next step immediately!

If your browser does not redirect on its own, the same message contains a Link you can click to continue.

Step 2: Create your Stripe account

Stripe opens its Get started with Stripe page with your email already filled in. Check that the email is correct, then continue.

On the next page, Create your free Stripe account, set a password. Stripe shows a strength indicator and suggests a multi word phrase for a stronger password.

Already have a Stripe account? Use the same email here and Stripe will recognize it rather than creating a second one.

Step 3: Secure your account

Stripe requires two factor authentication before it will let you continue.

1. Add a mobile number. On Secure your account with a mobile number, choose your country code, enter your number, and click Send text. If you would rather not use a phone number, use the authenticator app option on that screen instead.

2. Enter the code. Stripe texts you a six digit code. Enter it on the Enter the code from your device page. That screen also has Resend message and Use a different mobile number if something goes wrong.

3. Save the backup code. Stripe then shows Your account is secured with an emergency backup code. Use Download code or Copy code and store it somewhere safe. If you lose your phone, this code is how you get back into your Stripe account.

Step 4: Choose your country and business type

On Let's start with some basics, set two fields:

  • Registered business address: the country your business is registered in. This is the country check described earlier. If your country is not in this dropdown, you cannot continue.

  • Type of business: for example a limited liability company or an individual.

Choose the country carefully. It determines which tax fields Stripe asks for in the next step, and it is tied to your payout bank account.

Step 5: Fill in your business details

On Tell us more about your business, Stripe collects the information it needs to meet the requirements of regulators and financial partners.

The exact fields depend on the country you chose in Step 4. For a business registered in Indonesia, for example, Stripe asks for the legal business name, the tax identification number (NPWP), and the business ID number (TDP or NIB). Other countries have their own equivalents.

The legal business name must exactly match the name registered against your tax ID. A mismatch here is one of the most common reasons verification stalls later.

Step 6: Verify you represent the business

On Verify you represent this business, enter the first name, last name, and email address of the person completing the form.

Stripe is explicit that this must be someone with significant control and management of the business. If that is not you, stop and pass the link to the right person rather than filling it in on their behalf.

Step 7: Add your bank account for payouts

On Add your bank to receive payouts, search for your bank and enter the account number. A payout is the transfer of funds from Stripe to your bank account, so this is how your course revenue actually reaches you.

Use an account in the same name and country as the business details you entered earlier.

Step 8: Add your statement descriptor

On Add public details for customers, set the statement descriptor. This is the text your learners will see on their bank or credit card statement, and it must be between 5 and 22 characters.

Pick something a learner will recognize, normally your school name. An unrecognizable descriptor is a common cause of payment disputes, because buyers report charges they do not recognize.

Step 9: Review and finish

Stripe shows Review and finish up with everything you entered: business details, the information you provided, and your public details. Check each section and use the pencil icon to correct anything that is wrong, then confirm.

Once Stripe accepts the submission, your school's Payment Setting page shows Stripe as connected instead of Not Connected.

Stripe may still mark some items as "Information required soon". That means your account works, but Stripe needs more documents before a deadline. Complete them from your Stripe dashboard.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Likely cause

Fix

My country is not in the Registered business address dropdown

Stripe does not support that country yet

You cannot connect Stripe or sell courses from that country. Use the sign up for updates link on that screen to be told when it changes

I created a Stripe account on stripe.com and my school still shows Not Connected

That account was never linked to your school

Go back to Settings > Payment Setting, start from the Stripe card there, and use the same email when Stripe asks for it

The browser did not open Stripe after I submitted my email

The automatic redirect did not fire

Click the Link in the green confirmation message on the Payment Setting page

Stripe will not accept my legal business name

The name does not match the name registered against the tax ID

Enter the name exactly as it appears on your tax registration, including the legal form

I do not want to give Stripe a mobile number

Two factor authentication is required, but the method is not

On the mobile number screen, choose the authenticator app option instead

FAQs

Can I sign up for Stripe directly at stripe.com instead?

No. An account created on stripe.com is not linked to your Eduqat school and cannot be attached to it afterwards. Always start from Settings > Payment Setting in your Eduqat Dashboard, which generates a setup link tied to your school.

Which countries does Eduqat support for Stripe?

All of them, in the sense that Eduqat supports every country Stripe supports. There is no shorter Eduqat list. Check the Registered business address dropdown during setup: if your country is there, you can connect.

My country is not supported by Stripe. Can I still use Eduqat?

Yes, but you cannot take payments. You can still build your school, publish courses, and enroll learners manually. Selling requires a connected payment provider, and outside Indonesia that means Stripe.

I sell in Rupiah. Do I need Stripe?

No. Schools selling in Rupiah connect Xendit instead. See How to Create a Xendit Account on Eduqat.

Can I already have a Stripe account and reuse it?

Yes. Start from your Eduqat Dashboard as normal, and enter the same email when Stripe asks. Stripe recognizes the existing account rather than creating a second one.

What is a statement descriptor and why does it matter?

It is the 5 to 22 character text that appears on your learner's bank or credit card statement. Use your school name so buyers recognize the charge. Descriptors that look unfamiliar lead to disputes and chargebacks.

Who should fill in the Stripe form?

The business owner, or someone with significant control and management responsibility for the business. Stripe states this on both the opening screen and the Verify you represent this business step.
