What is Certificate Designer?

One of the features that Eduqat offers is the ability to design and issue certificates for your students who complete your courses. In this article, we will guide you through the steps of creating a custom certificate for your school using Eduqat.com’s certificate designer tool.

Step 1: Login to Eduqat.com

To access the certificate designer tool, you need to login to Eduqat.com using your credentials. You can do this by visiting sso.eduqat.com and entering your email and password. If you don’t have an account yet, you can sign up for free.

Step 2: Select Your School

After logging in, you will see a list of schools that you are affiliated with. Click on the school that you want to create a certificate for. This will take you to the school manager dashboard, where you can manage various aspects of your school, such as courses, students, instructors, and certificates.

Step 3: Navigate to the Certificate Designer Tool

From the school manager dashboard, click on Product from the navbar and select Certificate Design. This will open the certificate designer tool, where you can create and edit certificates for your courses. To create a new certificate, click on the + New Certificate button.

Step 4: Enter Your Certificate Name

The first thing you need to do is to enter a name for your certificate. This name will help you identify and manage your certificates later. The name can be up to 100 characters long and should describe the purpose or content of your certificate.

For example, you can name your certificate “Certificate of Completion for Basic Filmmaking Course” or “Certificate of Achievement for Advanced Filmmaking Course”.

Step 5: Customize Your Certificate

The next step is to customize your certificate according to your preferences and needs. You can do this by choosing a template, editing the content, and adjusting the design of your certificate.

Choosing a Certificate Template

Eduqat.com offers four different templates for you to choose from:

  • Classic - Formal: This template has a simple, elegant layout with a white background and black text. It is suitable for formal and academic certificates.

  • Classic - Casual: This template has a colorful and playful layout with a gradient background and white text. It is suitable for casual and fun certificates.

  • Modern - Elegant: This template has a modern, sleek layout with a dark background and gold text. It is suitable for professional and stylish certificates.

Please note that the template will determine the layout of your certificate, including the text, logo, signature, and other elements. The layout is final and cannot be modified later unless you decide to change to another template.

To choose a template, simply click on the one that you like and preview how it looks on the right side of the screen.

Editing the Content Section

The content section allows you to edit the text that appears on your certificate. You can edit the following fields:

  • Title
This is the main title of your certificate, such as “Certificate of Completion” or “Certificate of Achievement”.

  • Text above student's name
The text appears above the student’s name, such as “This is to certify that” or “Awarded to”.

  • Text above course name
This text appears above the course name, such as “for successfully completing” or “for demonstrating excellence in”.

  • Text below course name
This text appears below the course name, such as “with a score of” or “with distinction”.

  • Text signature name
This text appears below the signature, such as “Instructor Name” or “School Director”.

  • Text below signature
This text appears below the signature name, such as “Instructor Title” or “School Name”.

  • Date issued label
This label appears before the date of issue, such as “Date” or “Issued on”.

  • Expiry label (if applicable)
This is the label that appears before the expiry date (if any), such as “Valid until” or “Expires on”.

  • Certificate ID label:

This label appears before the unique certificate ID, such as “Certificate ID” or “Verification Code”.

To edit any of these fields, click them and type in your desired text. You can also use placeholders to insert dynamic information, such as {Student Name}, {Course Name}, {Date Issued}, {Expiry Date}, and {Certificate ID}. The actual values will replace these placeholders when you issue your certificates.

Adjusting the Design Section

The design section allows you to adjust the appearance of your certificate by changing the font colors, uploading a logo, uploading a background image, and uploading a signature.

  • Primary font color

This is the color of the text for the student name and the course name.

  • Secondary font color

This is the color of the text for the title and the text above the course name.

  • Tertiary font color:

This is the color of the text for the rest of the fields, such as the text above the student name, the text below the course name, the signature name, the signature title, the date issued label, the expiry label, and the certificate ID label.

  • Background image upload

This allows you to upload your own background image to replace the default background image on your certificate. The background image would cover the entire area of your certificate, and keep in mind that it'll affect the visibility of your text and logo if the certificate design isn't laid out properly.

Ensure this file has a layout or design similar to the current template layout. You can use Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Figma, or another graphic design tool to create a personalized background image for your certificate. The file format must be PDF, with a size of no more than 1.5 MB and a dimension of 279 x 216 mm or 1051 x 816 px.

Ensure the background image does not overlap with the text layout of the selected certificate template.

  • Signature upload

Make sure this file has a transparent background. The color of the signature itself should be taken from the background image's main color palette; you can choose any color - but we recommend the darker color palette as it will make the signature more recognizable on your certificate.

  • Logo upload (coming soon)

The logo section is still under development, so we suggest you delete the default logo and place your school logo directly on the Base PDF/background image.

Step 6: Save Your Certificate Design

The last step is to save your certificate design so that you can use it later to issue certificates for your students. To save your certificate design, click the Save button at the top right corner of the screen. You will see a confirmation message that says, “Your certificate design has been saved successfully.” You can also preview how your certificate will look by clicking on the Preview button next to the Save button.

Conclusion

Creating a custom certificate for your school with Eduqat.com is easy and fun. You can choose from different templates, edit the content, and adjust the design of your certificate according to your preferences and needs. You can also use placeholders to insert dynamic information, such as student name, course name, date issued, expiry date, and certificate ID. Once you save your certificate design, you can use it to issue certificates for your students who complete your courses.
